“Rebellion” – 30” x 36”

Inspired by Janice Lynn

A tribute to my godmother, a woman who embodied color and contradiction. “The Rebellion” celebrates those who burn bright within the confines of convention. Janice Lynn was a vibrant Aquarius, born into the order of a strict Italian Catholic world that prized appearances over expression. She fought courageously to carve her own path, her heart a wild garden trapped inside manicured hedges. Flowers were her solace burst of freedom she could nurture with her hands, even as duty anchored her elsewhere. This piece is for her and for every soul who ever longed to break free while keeping the peace.

The red hibiscus carries her fire, the duranta her grace and quiet defiance, the orange hibiscus her courage. Beneath it all runs the deep indigo of the inner world - the place where rebellion blooms quietly, waiting for it’s chance to rise.

This piece has an entombed image of an iridescent butterfly encased in the deep indigo cloud in the upper right hand corner of the piece. The butterfly appeared in the creation of this piece as a messenger from the spirit world. When the piece was completed, the butterfly’s message was complete and it no longer needed to be visually present in this original piece. However, its essence still remains.

*Giclée — museum-quality work of art, created with archival pigments celebrated for their rich color, fine detail, and lasting vibrancy. Giclée are created to last over 100 years without fading. Each piece is presented on museum-quality canvas, sealed for permanence and light protection with a museum-quality protective glaze and hand-embellished. This ensures, not only longevity, but a richly textured finish that brings the artwork to life.

Pronounced (zhee-clay), the term comes from the French word gicler, meaning to spray—a nod to the refined method by which pigment meets canvas. More than process—these creations by R. Anthony Marchelletta bring a promise of permanence, beauty, and emotional resonance.
